Seven steps every Pakistani homeowner and business should follow before buying solar.
Before anything else, find your last 3–6 electricity bills. Note the number of units (kWh) consumed each month. This is the single most important number for sizing your system correctly.
Grid-Tied: Connected to the grid. No battery. Best for net metering and maximum savings where grid is reliable.
Hybrid: Grid + battery. Best for load-shedding areas. Powers home during outages.
Off-Grid: No grid connection. Runs entirely on solar and battery. Best for farms and remote areas.
A 5 kW system needs approximately 400–450 square feet of clear unshaded roof space. South-facing roofs (facing towards the sun) give best output in Pakistan. Avoid rooftops with heavy shading from water tanks or adjacent buildings.
Only buy Tier-1 panels from manufacturers on the Bloomberg NEF Tier-1 list. Ask for the equipment datasheet and warranty certificate before confirming. Avoid unknown brands with unrealistically low prices.
Check with your local DISCO (LESCO, FESCO, MEPCO etc.) that your connection is eligible for net metering. Saonix handles all net metering applications.
Compare at least 2–3 quotes. Compare system size (kW), brand of panels and inverter, warranty terms, and what is included in the price (civil work, net metering application, monitoring setup).
Ask who handles warranty claims and maintenance. Saonix provides a 2-year workmanship warranty and annual maintenance contracts on all systems we install.
